Binhi  [bin•HEE]: Growth through Action encourages our delegates to focus on past experiences as a means for growth and how they can contribute to a person’s distinct development. Binhi, the Tagalog word for “seed”, represents the underlying theme for 2018 Fall Dialogue. The most vital parts of the plant are its roots, stem, and leaves/fruits. Secured to the ground by roots, a seed is given the chance to grow by the foundation it has set. In that sense, every past experience undoubtedly shapes the delegates as the person they are today. The stem of a plant — the most visible yet strongest part — can represent an individual's identity and showcases their unique growth through scars and growing pains. Each plant can then bear different fruits that may be used to replant its seeds elsewhere. Delegates will be able to look introspectively and acknowledge the autonomy in their growth.

The Binhi logo presents a simple yet delicate sprout. When young, sprouts are identical. As they grow they become beautiful and unique individuals. The sprout is the representation of today’s rising young adults, as they will soon be able to harness their unseen potential and become the next great generation. The logo is encompassed in a speech bubble, representing the conversations held at FIND, Inc’s Dialogue, which is the first step for action. As the sprout begins to grow unto its own, its twin leaves break through the bubble, displaying a literal growth through action.

Binhi rethinks the concept of activism by focusing on growth through action. Ultimately, delegates make the choices that determine who they are as individuals. “Activism” is a word that often intimidates people because it is strongly associated with politics. But, for Binhi, the authority to make decisions for oneself is the true essence of activism, whether it be in one’s personal life, community, or for a cause much larger. Binhi’s goal is to inform delegates of the different paths they can progress as individuals and the outlets in which they can affect change in their community. By the end of dialogue, delegates will hopefully realize that the future is in their hands, and it is their actions that will get them there.
